The Stelter Company Welcomes Renee Durnin, CFRE, as Client Strategist

Durnin Brings 20+ Years of Nonprofit Fundraising Marketing Experience to New Role at Stelter

Renee Durnin, CFRE

DES MOINES, Iowa (Feb. 18, 2020) –  The Stelter Company welcomed Renee Durnin to the company in late 2019 into a newly created position: client strategist. Durnin joins Stelter with a blend of fundraising and direct response marketing expertise that spans all forms of fundraising, including donor acquisition, mid-level giving and planned giving, with a passion for and unique understanding of list selection and results analysis. She has more than 20 years of experience managing national direct mail campaigns, and most recently worked with the Gabriel Group for over 13 years developing customized fundraising programs for nonprofits across the country and building Gabriel Group’s donor survey program.

As the premier planned giving marketing firm for some of the country’s largest and most sophisticated programs, Stelter excels in translating client goals and objectives into highly successful marketing campaigns. The creation of the client strategist role is in response to the growing need of Stelter clients for a deeper level of strategy and consultation. In her role at Stelter, Durnin works directly with Stelter’s key nonprofit clients, such as UNICEF USA, American Heart Association and World Wildlife Fund, to improve their planned giving results through a data-driven, analytical approach. She will also provide training and support to the rest of Stelter’s clients and staff.

“With over 57 years in the planned giving industry it would be easy for Stelter to continue down the same safe path it has been—however, that’s not what I’ve seen,” Durnin says. “Stelter continues to innovate with their focus on research and delivering results-driven strategies. This fits perfectly with my skill set and passions, and I’m excited to play a role in advancing the important work they do.”

Durnin has a B.A. in Communications from Truman State University and acquired her CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) certification in 2009. She is an active member of AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals), ANA Nonprofit Federation, Direct Marketing Fundraisers Association, St. Louis Council of Charitable Gift Planners and National Association of Charitable Gift Planners and has had various speaking engagements at national and local nonprofit conferences.

“Renee and I have known each other for quite a few years, and I’ve always been impressed with her intelligence, creativity and passion for her clients,” says Nathan Stelter, president. “I’d been interested in bringing Renee on board for a few years now, but I’m also a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. With the amazing growth that Stelter has made in recent years around our client engagement, client experience and tailored solutions, this was the perfect time to bring Renee into the fold. I can’t tell you how excited I am for our clients, for our staff and for Renee as we bring our clients a level of solutioning and service they’ve never seen before. It’s an awesome time to be at Stelter!”
