The University of Tampa Generates Gifts With New Cost-Effective Tools
The University of Tampa iNews More than 20 years ago, Tom Giddens began a relationship with The Stelter Company that has endured through his involvement with four organizations. “The Stelter Company has been around longer than anybody,” Tom says, “and they have really been on the cutting edge of technology, with a perspective on what’s happening in the marketplace.”

 

Now the director of planned giving at The University of Tampa, Tom and Planned Giving Officer Brian Overcast exclusively use Stelter’s gift planning Web product and iNews® electronic newsletter, which is personalized and sent to nearly 1,000 donors each month.
Cultivating Relationships
“The iNews product has driven traffic to the Web site, as well as provided us with great insight into our readers,” Tom says. As part of iNews, the university receives a report indicating who has opened the newsletter and what they are reading. The newsletter has consistently generated a 19 percent open rate.

 

Three major bequests recently came to the university as a direct result of the product. Each time, Tom and Brian witnessed the donors showing an increased interest in the newsletter before gifts materialized, which allowed them the perfect opportunity for more substantial conversations.

 

“The product is clearly delivering the content donors are interested in,” Brian says, “and it helps us to cultivate relationships and get our message out.”
